Sintered Titanium Filter Cartridge

Sintered titanium filter elements are manufactured with titanium powder as raw material, followed by powder compaction and vacuum-sintering.

Sintered titanium filters are made from 99.4+ % pure titanium powders. Depending on the morphology of the desired filter, powders can be compacted by isostatic pressing, uniaxial pressing, or roll-compacting. After the green body is formed, it is heated in the furnace to make the sintered filter.

Titanium has a density of 4.5 g/cc, which is about 55% of that of stainless steel. However, the yield strength of Ti (around 220 MPa) is higher than that of SS316L (170 Pa). Thus, the strength to weight ratio of titanium is higher.

Titanium is also resistant to corrosion caused by chloride ions, which makes it an excellent choice for seawater applications.

Because of these properties, titanium filters are often used in areas where chemical resistance is essential, such as pharmaceuticals, food beverages and pharmaceuticals etc. These sintered filters can effectively remove particles and withstand extreme conditions where alloys like SS316L are not suitable, and using Hastelloy filters is uneconomical.

Features of Titanium Filter Cartridge:

Made from compacted pre-graded Titanium powder:

Sintered metal filters are crafted from precisely graded titanium powder. This powder is compacted and then sintered, a high-heat process that bonds the particles without melting them. This method results in a robust, porous metal structure that offers exceptional strength and filtration performance.

Welded end-caps provided to prevent filtrate bypass:

Titanium filters boast integrally welded end-caps, eliminating the risk of filtrate bypass. This ensures all fluid travels through the filter media, maximizing filtration efficiency and preventing contamination of the filtrate. This leak-proof design is crucial for maintaining process integrity and achieving reliable results.

Non particle-shedding:

In applications requiring minimal contamination, consider sintered titanium filters for their non-particle-shedding property. Unlike some filter materials that release particles during use, sintered titanium filters maintain a clean surface, minimizing potential contamination of the filtrate and ensuring product purity.

Backwashing possible with 100% removal of captured solids:

Sintered titanium filters boast excellent regenerability. They can be backwashed effectively, dislodging captured solids and enabling near-complete removal. This minimizes downtime and maintenance costs compared to filters requiring full replacement.

Available in porosities ranging from 20 Microns to 0.5 Microns:

Sintered titanium filters come in porosities ranging from 20 microns to 0.5 microns, offering exceptional versatility for filtering particles of various sizes. This allows for precise selection based on your specific filtration needs.
